PHOENIX - Steve Nash turned 36 on Sunday. His age isn't the only thing that's going up.
The two-time MVP's stats are increasing along with his age.
For the season, Nash is averaging 18.4 points, 11.1 assists per game while shooting 52% from the field.
These numbers are Nash's best since the 2006-2007 season.
He is also shooting 94% from the free throw line, his best mark in a 14-year career.
During the Suns' current five-game winning streak, Nash has a better than 7-to-1 assist/turnover ratio.
Head coach Alvin Gentry doesn't feel Nash has slowed down at all.
"Obviously if we were a little better record wise I think they'd be talking about him for his third MVP," Gentry said. "I think he's had his best year since I've been here."
Nash said he still feels good after turning 36.
"I guess it's pretty old by NBA standards, but I feel great and I'm still enjoying it," Nash said. "I love being a part of this team. I feel really lucky for that because I would've probably guessed I would be done by now if you asked me five, eight years ago.
"You can't play forever," Nash continued. "And to be 36, feel good, (and) be a part of a group of guys you really enjoy playing with is a lot of fun for me, and I feel lucky."
Nash was joined at practice by his twin daughters.
"I'm a bit of a hypocrite because I will let my kids eat (cake) even though I won't eat it."
